On July 10, 2026, Grace Christian Church experienced a catastrophic ceiling collapse in our sanctuary. We are extremely grateful that no one was hurt; however, the damage is more extensive than the images reflect. The entire remaining ceiling must come down, asbestos abated, areas cleaned, pews removed and repaired, ceiling rebuilt, ducts cleaned, and sound, lights, and media equipment replaced. The carpet will likely need to be replaced. We are currently unable to use any portion of the building.
Unfortunately, insurance will only cover about 1/3 of the costs that will be incurred, even though our church has faithfully paid for full insurance coverage and has kept the building well-maintained for decades. This will not cover all of the expenses for cleanup, repairs, and rebuilding, or the costs associated with displacement while our sanctuary is being repaired. We will provide more details as the project progresses.
